Sneaker Sleeper: Air Max Verona

Though we’re only part of the way through the first quarter of the new year, the entire Nike umbrella has been in a mode that can only be described as aggressive AF, preparing not one but three collaborative releases for All Star Weekend while simultaneously fine tuning the Air Jordan 1 as well as the Air Max 90. And as the 90 continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary, the silhouette is also lending its core design to one of the first women’s exclusives of the decade: the Air Max Verona.

As the apparent successor to models such the Thea and the Dia (two models we loved, btw), the newcomer is a combination of sleek and bulk which, if we’re being honest threw us off at first. This is definitely a shoe we had to see on foot in order to really appreciate. Its overall profile mimics the general lines of the 90’s classic while the exaggerated heel and paneling channel the more recent Air Max releases we’ve seen, including last year’s 720. The toe boxes feature mesh — revealed here in a pastel pink and light purple — while adjacent smooth leathers outfit with ornate stitching, and a zig-zag constructed swoosh of black thread. The Air Max 200 sole unit sits at the bottom with an Air unit window oversized by 200%.

Grab a detailed look at the Air Max Verona up top and expect to see it hit shops and click the ‘Shop the Sneaks’ prompt below to add these to your rotation. If the colorways aren’t your thing, stay tuned: more iterations will arrive on March 5th.
