Without a doubt, anything that comes from Jordan brand gets us excited. When we see a retro Jordan hit the SNKRS release calendar, we’re listening. However, when we see a full family size run, we really start turning our heads. Being able to get our hands on a shoe with such a rich history is a sure way to have us keeping a close eye on the SNKRS app (as if we aren’t doing that already). The latest Jordan coming out from the vault is turning 30 and we’re down for a little celebrating.

Let’s talk history. Originally releasing in 1991, the Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ was worn by Michael Jordan en route to his first NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls in 1990-1991. The shoe was retroed for the first time back in 2008 as part of VI / XVII Countdown Pack and then again in 2014. The shoe itself was different from prior AJ6 colorways since it marked the first time colored panels were used on the upper. Now, being retroed for the 3rd time to mark its 30th anniversary, not much has changed. The upper is still composed of primarily white leather with pops of red on the underlying panels, nylon lace shields, lace toggles, and on the heel’s pull tab. Most notably, the Nike Air logo is stamped on the back of the shoe in bright red that is identical to original ‘91 design. Take a look at the snaps below to get a closer look at the moment in history.

WHEN IS THE AIR JORDAN 6 ‘CARMINE’ RELEASING?

Rumor has it that the Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ is set to release on 2/13 via SNKRS and a few other retailers. However, no date is set and stone and with the recent delays in sneaker releases, a release at a further date can be expected. Prices for the AJ6 in Mens, GS and preschool sizes are expected to be $200, $140 and $80 USD respectively. Once we get confirmation from the Swoosh we’ll be sure to pass the news along.
