Converse x Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection | Available Now

We’ve seen a lot of collaborations between fashion labels and artists within the past year, one highly sought out artist and most-notable has been with the late American artist and Neo-Expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat. You’ve most likely seen the Coach x Basquiat collection and most recently in the new Tiffany & Co. launch with Beyoncé and Jay Z. Adding to the list of collaborations with his estate is Converse. In celebration of the late artists’ vibrant and street-inspired motifs, Converse has released a collection of sneakers, t-shirts, and sweaters featuring images of his work.

The Converse x Basquiat collection includes three silhouettes–the Skidgrip, Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All Star. The Skidgrip comes in a low-top design that features Basquiat’s “King’s of Egypt II” artwork on a black, polyester upper with his name printed stamped on the tongue and heel. A chunky, off-white sole finishes off the pair. For the Chuck 70, you will see artwork from Basquiat’s “Kings of Egypt III” piece along the embroidery of the shoe, and will feature a suede Converse logo and all-black lettering on the heel. The Chuck Taylor All Star features Basquiat’s “Pez Dispenser” art piece in bold colors and with his name also printed on the heel of the shoe. 

WHERE CAN I BUY THE CONVERSE X BASQUIAT COLLECTION?

The Converse x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection was released on Converse.com on September 16th. Converse also launched 4 pieces of apparel that included t-shirts and a sweatshirt that featured Basquiat’s most identifiable signature symbols, but they were the first to be sold out when the launch dropped. However, you can still get your hands on a pair of shoes in men, women, and little kids size online.
