Nike AF1 40th Anniversary for the Ladies | First Look

Images: Nike

The 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1 is upon us and you know Nike is not going to leave us hanging. The Air Force 1 was originally released in 1982 and was designed by Bruce Kilgore. It was the first basketball shoe to use Nike Air technology. Crazily enough, we’ve since passed the period where people are wearing their AF1’s on the court. It’s since become a timeless lifestyle sneaker that’s surprisingly still hard to get your hands on even to this day, especially if it’s a pair of all white’s. Those fly off the shelves instantly and while some of us choose to keep our pair as icy as the day we bought them, there are those that chose to run theirs through the dirt and still wear them (we’re not going to mention any names). No matter how you choose to rock them though, this is one silhouette that will always continue to stand the test of time.

The WMNS Nike AF1 40th Anniversary sneaker starts with a beautiful creamy off white leather base. This base color also encompasses the laces, tongue, and Swoosh. A pop of color catches the eye in team red via the soles, the inner liners, and the branding on the heel. Subtle details come out to play like on the notable ‘1’ on the branding on the tongue, the small team red Swooshes on the upper toe of the shoe, and the ‘40’ that’s imprinted on the heels. Metallic gold accents are featured on the lace dubrae and eyelets. This colorway is oh so subtle but also oh so sweet.

When can I buy the WMNS Nike AF1 40th Anniversary?

While we can’t wait for this special AF1 to drop, a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Rumor has it we’re looking at an October drop date. A price point hasn’t been confirmed either but it may be somewhere in the $120 USD range. As we wait for more details, shop our additional Nike picks down below.
