West Side Chicago native Joe Freshgoods continues to be one of our favorite sneaker designers. JFG has an impeccable talent for using sneakers as a medium for storytelling, drawing inspiration from his childhood to create styles that evoke nostalgia and comfort.

This September Joe Freshgoods teased us with a 3-pack of new 993s on Instagram. Named the “Performance Art: Made to Wear Well” collection, this triad is the latest addition to Freshgoods’ growing line of iconic New Balance collabs. A sweet pastel trio of pink, green, and blue, these 993s come decked out in super-soft tonal suede uppers. Soft gray mesh allows the colors to shine, while a creamsicle-like orange shade on the laces and midsole adds extra sweetness. The casual silhouette of the 993 perfectly falls in line with the “Made to Wear” theme of the collection; these shoes are meant to be lived in, not kept boxed up in your closet.

Since this sneak peak, the full “Performance Art: Made to Wear Well” collection has been revealed. Alongside the three pastel 993s is an array of apparel goods, including patchwork sets and luxe velour tracksuits.
