Cop or Can: Converse x JW Anderson Run Star Hike

The Converse x JW Anderson collaboration has been a fan favorite since the release of the glitter Chuck 70. The two are back once again and they’re not disappointing. JW Anderson debuted the Run Star Hike during their Spring/Summer 2019 Collection show last September in London.

“Contrasting proportions have always been part of my design aesthetic. When I approached this latest Converse, I was looking to re-create the same aesthetic by pairing the sole of a Run Star with the classic Chuck Taylor to emphasize the proportions,” says Anderson.

Even though it took some ingenuity in design the shoe came to life and it is very striking. There are subtle details included in the design such as the hand drawn typographical marks that nod to the shared history of Converse and JW Anderson. On the white version of the sneaker, the date “1917” appears beside the patch on a Chuck 70 upper noting to the debut of the All-Star. On the glitter version of the shoe it reads “2017” which marks the initial release of the Converse x JW Anderson Chuck 70 Glitter.

The white colorway of the Converse x JW Anderson Run Star Hike releases February 2019. So be on the lookout. In the meantime, there's still something to enjoy from the two collaborators.
