Pyer Moss' Experiment 3 Takes It To The Court With Hoop York City
To say we’re fans of the Pyer Moss x Reebok collab would be an understatement. To say we’re over the moon about Kerby Jean-Raymond and his dedication to telling the stories of people of color in the context of fire fits and shoes is pretty damn accurate. From The Daytona Experiment to the latest Experiment 3, Kerby and team are bringing the beauty of blackness to the sneaker and streewear culture community and their continuing that legacy with the latest addition to their emblematic campaign family: Hoop York City.
Founded in 2018 by Alex Taylor, HOOP YORK CITY is a for women/by women answer to the male-dominated basketball leagues of the NYC basketball community. In a time when safe spaces aren’t all that easy to come by, Alex and her crew created a mecca of sorts for female hoopers in the most diverse city in the world. Whether you’re a recreational hooper or a former D1 athlete, Hoop York City is a community of women who simply play the game they love free of fear and judgement. So, it makes sense that this all-girl squad, who has made such an impact on the NYC streets, would be handpicked to ball out in the latest from Kerby & Co.
In the spread, shot in the heart of NYC, four ladies from the HYC crew bring their own sense of pride to an already iconic movement; rocking the Reebok x Pyer Moss Mobius Experiment 3 and nailing a few buckets while they’re at it. Peep a few images from the spread below.
While the eye-catching Pyer Moss x Reebok Mobius Experiment 3 has already released in a few different colorways, this latest iteration of the Mobius goes back to the basics with an all-black look on the upper and iridescent side panels. The shoe is constructed out of a glossy/mater leather mix and suede upper for an elevated look and feel.
You can catch the Mobius Experiment 3 (and possibly a few new apparel goodies) when it releases on both pyermoss.com and reebok.com on August 10th for $250. See more of the shoe below and, if you’re looking to shop the Pyer Moss x Reebok collab we’ve linked a few of our favorites at the bottom of the post.
