ThickLaces and KashmirVIII Celebrate Black Plus-Sized Icons Through New Collaboration

Image: ThickLaces

ThickLaces is an online streetwear community dedicated to plus-sized women of color. Cofounded by Essie Golden and Katie Alexis in 2020, this platform has provided safe space for women of all different shapes and sizes to connect by means of sneakers and streetwear. In honor of Black History Month, ThickLaces has collaborated with ATL based artist, Kashmir Thompson, to reveal a special style collaboration that celebrates Black plus sized women who have inspired many throughout history.

The simple yet impactful design follows the faces of 12 plus sized Black women from every industry, every generation, and every field. Included on the prints are the likes of Missy Elliot, Mo-Nique, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Price, Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, and more. Each of these Black icons were “able to shift the energy in the room by stepping their full bodies into the center of any stage and able to rock any mic,” making their appearance within this collection nothing short of perfect. This collaboration includes t-shirts, mugs, stickers, posters, tote bags, coasters, throw pillows, and more items with this beautiful design. Scroll down below to view.

To the Black girls who always knew they were superstars. Made to be seen and to take up space.
