To kick off the summer in early May, CNKDaily created the SneakHER Expressions event in collaboration with Women Within.  The event was not only meant to flex sneakHER style, but share how the common bond of sneakers can be a catalyst for female empowerment.  On a daily basis, we stand by our mission aimed at being a voice that serves women in the sneaker/streetwear space. By empowering, educating, and inspiring women from all walks of life, we have created a diverse community through our grassroots approach.  Creating an inclusive environment coupled with a safe space to voice your opinion, we welcome all women from the OG collectors to the ones thinking about buying their first pair. We preach that sneakers brings you to us, but community makes you stay.

It is very important to show love to the respective areas that we’re in, and Houston is a city full of rich culture that doesn’t get as much attention as other major cities like New York, Chicago, and LA.  We aim to change that, and bringing the SneakHER Expressions event to H-town was the first step.

The morning started with with good vibes as the ladies showed up in their sneakers to showcase their individual style.  The event was about having a good time through sisterhood while repping your city to the fullest. Aside from must-haves like music, a fun photobooth, light bites, and a full coffee bar - elements of Houston flavor were sprinkled around as a reminder that our city is one of the trillest.

After our social media break with a DJ mix of Houston rap classics, we jumped right into our conversation with a panel of ladies that are making boss moves within the city.  We strategically selected our SneakHER Expressions panelists to show the beauty in the diversity of the female sneaker game. Tausha (founder of SneakHER Summit), Courtney (founder of the Bwerd.com and PR professional), and Helecia (Content Creator and Beauty Brand Expert) came ready with insightful gems about owning your individuality, styling your kicks, and building community over competition.  Think of it as an extended sneaker Ted Talk regarding the current state of ‘SneakHER Culture’.

We all left feeling empowered and uplifted while paying due respect to the home of the trill AKA Houston.  If you want us to invade your city with our SneakHER Expressions event, drop us a DM on Instagram. Special shout to our friends at Nike, all the wonderful vendors who made this possible, and Social Status Houston. We definitely have more on the horizon, so stay tuned!
