Sneaker Diary: Jordan Brand Goes Back-to-School

Sneaker Diary: Back-to-School Edition

We’re heading to Dallas, Texas for a new school year and a little girl’s first pair of J’s.

This post is sponsored by Jordan Brand.

Like Mother, like daughter.

There’s no doubt that we learn a heck of a lot from our moms. From daily rituals to fashion tips (we’ll admit, we don’t take all of these), all the way to music and how to stack a mean drop-front box – mom kind of sets the blueprint for the things we begin to love.  When we realized just how much CNK-alum Brittany Giles is passing her love for kicks onto her daughter, 8-year-old Peyton, we had to spend a day with them as Peyton got ready to tackle the third grade in her first pair of Jordans.  Let’s just say, things got really cute.

Fresh notebooks and countless colored pencils aren’t the only back-to-school musts on the radar for Peyton this year. As she heads into the third grade (and a growing obsession with swapping laces), she’s already building her wardrobe with cool-kid Jordan must-haves and the kind of fleece separates that make us wish they came in adult sizing. While most moms are behind the best looks donned by their littles in the hallways at school, Peyton’s mom Brittany is more about watching her daughter discover her own personal style.  Case in point: our Sneaker Diary styling session. “Mom, do I have to wear the sweatshirt the whole time? It’s hot in Texas.”  Whether she knew it or not, Peyton’s two cents gave us a glimpse into her own growing style preferences – note: she doesn’t like being hot.

Brands like Jordan Brand maintain their allure with a combination of expert craftsmanship, iconic storytelling, and, lest we forget, generational admiration.  For Peyton, and other kids like her, the joy of Jordan Brand isn’t found in the nostalgia of MJ’s best buzzer beaters or the ads we (read: myself and her mom) gobbled up over cereal and Saturday morning cartoons.  The joy in this next generation can be found in our own continued love for a brand that cherishes nostalgia just as much as they champion innovation and inclusion.  As Peyton eyes her mom’s collection with both admiration and healthy curiousity, it’s clear that she’s learning quickly what she likes, what she doesn’t, and what it means to lace up her first pair.

Much like us that have loved sneakers since childhood, an essential part of what we wear is effortless functionality.  This Back to School season with Jordan Brand takes designs that kids love and adds a layer of comfort and cool that lasts all day.  Check out more of Peyton’s back-to-school looks below, and find yourself swooning over her mini sneakHER style.
