We love teaming up with like minded ladies so, it was only a matter of time before #ChicksNKicks met #FitXBrit!
Every week, 'Fit Chicks' will highlight attire, tips, and (of course!) sneakers that make it perfect for you to get your sweat on in style. We’ll also hip you to some of our favorite weekend hang sessions and interactions with like-minded ladies because, we love showing love!
Feeling the concept? Read on...
This past Friday, myself and Brittany over at FitXBrit were invited to Centre (a sneaker style boutique shop in Dallas, Texas) for an event dubbed ‘Eat Like Mike’ presented by the folks at Centre and Living 29’s Caodan Tran, personal chef extraordinaire. The event set the stage for the release of the Air Jordan Retro High OG 1 “UNC,” which hit stores to much fanfare on Saturday.
Caodan crafted a perfect combo (Jordans + Wheaties + Gatorade = HELLO!?!) with her Lemon Lime Gatorade Mangonada Slushy and a Wheaties and Date-filled protein bar, which were available for purchase. That purchase bought us two chances to win a raffle for an advance purchase of the UNC’s or a steak dinner for two prepared by Ms. Tran’s magical hands. This was dope because it actually got people in the door and you actually wanted to stay til the end to see if you won! Even though I wasn't a lucky winner (let's just say I TECHNICALLY won, but a size 13 was all they had left - what am I gonna do with that!?!) I totally had a blast! My favorite part? Meeting Caodan, FINALLY! The lady with the Instagram page of dreams has been on my radar since Brittany hipped me to her fun foods and obvious love of sneakers.
She's a certified winner in my book.
It is definitely in your best interest to hit that follow button on instagram when you see LIVING29 and stay updated on all of the pop ups she does around the city! Dallas coming up, y'all!
A long time ago, my mother told me there would come a day when I preferred comfort and functionality over style. While that day hasn't necessarily arrived when it comes to my sneaker collection, I will say that comfort is a huge factor when I make a purchase these days because, why pay for a dope shoe that looks good, but feels crappy? Nobody has time (or money) for that. That said, is the New Balance 990GL3 the most visually appealing shoe we've ever seen? Nope. Is it one of the more comfortable models in recent memory? Abso-freakin-lutely.
Our favorite overseas lady sneaker boutique, Naked CPH, decided to showcase this oft-ignored silhouette in a few out-and-about snaps. The streets of Copenhagen set the stage for the NB 990GL3 and showed us that comfort can look pretty darn good.
If you'd like to get your hands on a pair of the New Balance 990GL3 (and if you happen to be anywhere near Copenhagen) join Naked CPH on Friday at Naked Pilestræde for the release of the iconic running shoe. Cold beers will also be there for your taking so, yea, go and be merry.
If you're posted up in the US, Naked will release the shoe online on Friday, October 16th at Nakedcph.com at 19.00 CET.
By now, you've probably gotten a glimpse of Rihanna's first signature shoe with Puma. For those of us who have been following Ri's sneaker moments since she was under that umbrella (ella, ella, ay, ay, ay) her choice for the Puma Creeper is no big surprise. Rihanna's take on the OG Puma Suede Classic silhouette, courtesy of Mr. Completely's signature 1.5" platform design, has been a favorite of the singer's since she signed with Puma back in December of 2014.
That said, to celebrate the upcoming release of Rihanna's Puma 'Creeper', we decided a trip down memory lane was in order. Take a look at five times Rihanna looked glorious in her Creepers.
5. BBHMM Premiere
The release of Rihanna's latest video for "B*tch Better Have My Money" was a celebration as the singer packed a LA theater with some of her Tidal faithful. Rih opted to pair her all black Creepers with a black and white dress from Louise Alsop‘s Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
4. Grunge Life
We felt a twinge of teenage angst and an intense to desire to watch 'My So Called Life' on Netflix after spotting Rih in this grunge-inspired look.
3. Hello, JFK.
Rihanna travels...a lot. So, we expect that while she tries her best to keep it cute from terminal to terminal, comfortable footwear is a must for this girl on the go. In true Rihanna fashion, the singer arrived at JFK looking gorgeous as ever in a comfy army green jumpsuit. She also gave us our first look at a pink/gum pair of her custom Completely Creepers.
2. Night At Bang Bang's
After arriving in NYC, your favorite pop star took to the streets to grab some ink at Bang Bang’s tattoo studio. Sporting a white, long-sleeve henley top with W.I.A‘s hole sweatpants, Rih also gave us our first look at the white Puma Suede sneaks with a tan creeper sole.
1. Signing Day
Who could forget December 2014 when Riri officially inked her deal as both Puma's newest face and its Creative Director? Ri went all out for the signing, keeping cute in white-on-white-on-white.
Jeremy Scott pairs hippie movement-inspired looks with basketball-themed swag in his latest collection for adidas Originals.
The venerable designer (and celeb fave) returns once again with a look at the Fall/Winter 2015 offering, which offers a varied mix for both men and women. Inspired by the hippie movement in the ’60s and ’70s, the collection draws from the “flower power” look of bright-printed jackets, shorts, and barely there bikini sets...because Fall/Winter in California looks completely different, y'all.
Faux fur is also added to the mix along with an interwoven basketball jersey dress that will probably turn up on Katy Perry sometime this year. The gallery is topped off with another look at the Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals “B-Ball” Wings hi-tops, which are available now. The rest of Jeremy's colorful collection will hit retailers on September 11.
Reebok Classic takes on London street style for its fall-winter 2015 lookbook. Captured in Thamesmead, London, the shots are about a bit more than scenery as Reebok Classic aims also to celebrate its British heritage. New for the fall season, look for additions to the FACE Stockholm collection as well as sneaker boots and color bright pops of color.

Even thought the Labor Day holiday signifies the end of the summer, Rihanna continues to build off her summer 2015 Puma buzz with a visual reminder that the fashion Queen has some dope stuff in store for fall.
Puma’s Creative Director took to her Instagram page to kick off another part of her 'Forever Faster' Puma campaign which features her hit single “BBHMM” and asks, what are you training for? This also marks our first look at a video to go along with the ads we've seen popping up over the last quarter.
Take a look at the video below:
Are you excited for Ri's Puma's collection?
Even though I'm so ready for fall, I can't help but to take notes on cute summer looks for next year. Kendall Jenner has become a huge favorite around these parts so when she stepped out wearing this super cute NBD Don't Turn Back Dress, Retrosuperfuture Mqw Lucia Silber Sunglasses, and adidas Originals Superstar 80s Metal Toe Sneakers.
Her silk/polyester dress features a high neckline and t-strap open back.
Her Silver-tone 'MQW Lucia Silber' aluminium sunglasses from Retro Super Future feature half cat eye frames, dark lenses, a curved bridge and skinny arms.
Her adidas Superstar 80s Metal Toe takes the well-known basketball style and builds it in luxurious fish skin leather. Part of the Real Metal Pack, the shoe features fish skin leather 3-Stripes and tonal Trefoi.
Happy Birthday Beyonce!
Here is one thing with love about Beyonce: it’s not always about uber sexy, sky high heels and it’s not always about playing by the rules, either. In fact, sometimes, ‘Yonce combines her fashionista with a pair of sneaks that continue to set her own style agenda.
Queen Bey is turning 34 today and in honor of her birthday, birthdate, and favorite number we've decided to compile four (count 'em) of our favorite sneaker moments courtesy of the Queen. Take a look!
