Preview: Air Jordan Spring 2017 Collection

While Jordan Brand's retro releases haven't been at the top of my list for the majority of this year, as of late the house that MJ built has been dishing out some pretty drool-worthy options. So, when we got word that JB had unveiled a slew of re-releases for Spring 2017, we thought it imperitive to take a look. All dropping between January and March, the range is an interesting combination of polished classics. The Jordan VIII caught my eye in particualar. Take a look below at the eight releases below.

Take Flight

Inspired by the Air Jordan IX Olive, the Air Jordan VIII features pops of max orange and, for the first time, integrates neoprene into the upper.

The Air Jordan V takes it's key design cues from none other than a bomber jacket. Talk about sneaker style, right? With a leather-wrapped midsole and premium materials laced throughout the upper, the AJV brings an eye-catching sequoia green balance to a hint of vachetta tan on the tongue.

Originally released in 1999, the Air Jordan XV OG was inspired by a stealth fighter plane. The silhouette returns with premium materials and, of course, tremendous construction and attention to detail. Personally, these aren't my favorite, but the true Jordan afficianado should find a special attachment to this high flyer.

Air Jordan Alternate

The Air Jordan Alternate is a celebration of sorts. An homage to instantly recognizable silhouettes and Michael Jordan's penchant for regularly surprising fans with exclusive performance footwear. Where a simple shift in color (typically incorporating some sort of red) could instigate pandemonium, quickly becoming coveted by athletes and collectors alike.

For Spring 2017 the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VIII go for the V-Day gusto in red and white color schemes. Each shoe features stitched patches indicative of the corresponding year in which Senor MJ stepped on the hardwood in each pair.

Air Jordan XII Low

The most notable part of this release pack is the return of the Air Jordan XII Low. Jordan Brand celebrates the legacy of the XII by bringing together old and new colorways. For a modern take, JB revisits their favorite Max Orange accent coupled with a black suede upper and matching pebble leather mudguard.

Worn by MJ during his 1997 home playoff run, the Air Jordan XII Playoff low remains faithful to the original colorway with a black tumbled leather upper and textured white leather overlay.

Last, but not least, Jordan Brand elevates the iconic Air Jordan IV silhouette with premium materials and a dose of good ol black and yellow. Featuring a full black nubuck upper and metallic gold finishes, the Air Jordan VI is a flashy take on the classic retro.
