Nike Celebrates Latine Heritage Month With New "La Familia" Collection

Latine Heritage Month (or Hispanic Heritage, depending on who you’re talking to) is in full swing right now. So far we’ve seen some releases ahead of the September 15 - October 15 month of celebration, including Converse’s eclectic Mi Gente, Mi Alegría footwear and apparel collection. Now, we turn our heads toward the big swoosh, who are honoring Latine voices of past and present with new versions of the Air Force 1 Low and Air Trainer 1.

Nike’s “La Familia” collection embraces Latine cultures, identities, and values with two sneakers covered in nods to Latine Heritage Month. Skillful embroidery shines on the mostly-tonal warm beige Air Trainer 1. “Somos Familia” is embroidered in both heels in a vibrant mix of yellow, blue, green, and red stitching, opposite a “We Are Familia” patch stitched into the tongue. Vibrant green and yellow chenille swooshes make an appearance on both silhouettes. The AF1 Low comes decked out in an all-over rusty red color, seen everywhere from the velvety nubuck leather uppers to the rubber outsoles.

Where can I buy the Nike “La Familia” collection?

Unfortunately for us, the “La Familia” AF1 Low sold out almost immediately upon release on October 1. Luckily, though, resale prices for the shoe aren’t astronomical, with most sizes ringing up below $150 USD on GOAT.

As for the “La Familia” Air Trainer 1, there’s still plenty of sizes left (for now, that is). Click the button below to cop a pair of your own!
