Nike Teases a Bright, Sunshine-y 'Be True' SB Dunk Low Ahead of Pride Month 2023

Nike’s message is loud and clear: “we back the LGBT.” Back in 2012, Nike employees led a grassroots effort named ‘BETRUE’ in an effort to hold space for LGBTQIA+ community members in sports. Since then, Nike has been releasing inaugural ‘Be True’ collections in honor of Pride, June’s month-long celebration of LGBT+ communities. These collections, which are managed and ideated by LGBT+ Nike staff, feature colorful, rainbow-clad designs that echo Nike’s longstanding vision of inclusivity. This fall, our social feeds have been blessed with what looks to be either a pre-Pride early release or a sneak peek of the 2023’s ‘Be True’ collection. Either way, more rainbows are in the forecast for the big swoosh.

This version of the SB Dunk Low brings sunshine to the table with a bright, happy colorway. Bright yellow laces mirror yellow overlays on the upper, beaming with color atop a white waffle mesh. Smiley sunbursts on the heel shine down upon abstract graphics of people dancing. An electric salmon swoosh and ‘Be True’ logo on the tongue complete the look.

Shine on!

No details surrounding price nor release date have been released yet; while some believed the pair would drop in October for LGBT+ History Month, a timeframe has yet to be announced by Nike. We think these might drop in June for Pride Month, but an earlier release would be welcome during the shorter days of winter.

Until then, cop some of Nike’s other offerings down below.
