Are We Feeling The Union LA x Nike Cortez?

Image: Union LA

Union LA’s ongoing collaboration has been one of the most interesting to examine. Their ability to both respect and push the boundaries with classic Nike silhouettes makes their collab’s some of the most sought after within the sneaker community. This year the Nike Cortez turns 50 years old and to celebrate Nike has teamed up with Union LA for a Cortez unlike any other.

The Union LA x Nike Cortez was unveiled at the Nike Women Future 50 For Her Event. As Beth Birkett would explain, the shoe was inspired by a series of Ethiopian hats and the woven pattern crafted throughout. The collaboration serves as a love letter to LA by reimagining the silhouette as an expression of the rich history and cultural diversity of the City of Angeles. This elevated yet contemporary take features an upper composed of suede and knit overlays that give the show an almost deconstructed look. The midsole is comprised of recycled materials for its Crater Foam midsole. A Nike Grind outsole finishes off the sneaker. 4 colorways in total are expected to drop with the first 2 named ‘Sesame’ and ‘Off-Noir’ set to drop later this month. Check out the images of the first drop below.

WHEN IS THE UNION LA X NIKE CORTEZ DROPPING?
