Melody Ehsani's Latest Sneaker Creation Pays Homage to Our Ancestors

There’s no denying that L.A. designer Melody Ehsani is a creative force to be reckoned with. Her electric Air Jordan 1 Mid was arguably the most sought-after women’s release of 2019. Founded on the principle of uplifting and empowering women through design, the Melody Ehsani brand has collaborated with big names like Nike, Foot Locker, Reebok, and Jordan in the past. Today, Ehsani teased a new passion project between her signature brand and the Jumpman: a heavily-detailed and beautifully eccentric take on the Air Jordan 36 PE.

The Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan 36 PE comes covered in a multitude of colored snakeskin patterns. Indigo, teal, emerald, and yellow make up the sneaker’s color palette, complimented by gold accents. The zig-zag textured outsoles come with a hamsa design in the center. A symbol of faith and protection, the hamsa, or ‘Hand of God’, is primarily used by members of the Jewish faith in art and amulets. The inside sole reads “standing on the shoulders of greats,” honoring the ancestors that came before us and paved the way for our successes. The Melody Ehsani ‘ME.’ brand logo is printed in bold black lettering on the tongue. Gold lace dubraes of a hamsa and Earth complete the look.

Debuted by Boston Celtics basketball player Jay Tatum during his warmup for Game 2 of the NBA finals, these sneakers are in their infancy as far as release timelines go. Check out a first look of these sneaks down below.
