Houston-Based Brand 'Grind Like A Doll' Is Our Latest Activewear Obsession

Here at CNK Daily, we’re always on the lookout for brands that reflect our core values. We seek to uplift women of color by shining a light on black-owned businesses that share our passion for community-building.

Based out of Houston, Texas, women’s activewear brand Grind Like a Doll marries luxury and comfort with their pocket leggings and supportive sports bras. Founded by HTX creative Dolly Girma, GLAD caught our eye with their wide range of apparel pieces and beautiful brand campaign photos. Featuring all women of color in different shapes and sizes, their promo photos reflect the brand’s goal of “empowering women through inclusion.”

Available in sizes small - 3X, Grind Like a Doll carries leggings, sports bras, tops, and jackets made out of soft, sweat-wicking material. Their leggings are tried-and-true ‘squat proof’, meaning they’ll stay up during a brutal leg day and are opaque enough to cover up underwear during a full squat. In addition to their apparel line, GLAD also carries tote bags, socks, water bottles, and yoga mats, making it a one-stop-shop for activewear. Earthy hues and blush tones reign supreme among the brand’s color scheme, with shades that compliment every skin tone.

“Our GLAD sets are designed to blur the line between form and function,” says Girma. “Whether you’re heading to the gym, grabbing coffee, or going to brunch, you can do it all one GLAD set at a time.”
