The Nike Training Club app is unlike any other fitness app on the market. The app was launched in 2009 as a subscription based service that was geared towards helping people achieve a cohesive workout regimen and reach their fitness goals. During the COVID-19 pandemic the app became free for all due to everyone being stuck at home in quarantine, and Nike still wanted people to be able to move their bodies. NTC is so much more than just a workout app and now for the first time ever, Nike’s launching a fitness maternity program that’s geared towards helping more pregnant and postpartum people get back into sport.

Nike discovered that one of the second highest rates of women ceasing exercise is due to pregnancy. Pregnancy can be a very hard time in a women’s life, especially when they’re lacking that integral guidance and support. Nike saw a void that needed to be filled and to combat this particular issue, they’re launching Nike (Move) Like a Mother.

The Nike (Move) Like a Mother program will consist of 24 workouts for prenatal and postpartum exercise. The workouts will contain a mix of strength, cardio, mobility and yoga. These workouts were designed by qualified trainers and also vetted by an exclusive panel of five pregnancy experts. Nike (Move) Like a Mother covers three distinct seasons of pregnant life: early pregnancy, later pregnancy, and postpartum.

Nike’s advocacy for pregnant and postpartum wellness is an extension of their efforts to provide support through their products and services. In 2020, Nike debut a maternity collection that included pieces like sports bras, tanks, and leggings. Nike then expanded the collection in 2021 and it will release in Asian markets this month.

The program doesn’t just stop at guided workouts. There will also be a range of service-oriented stories available as well as coverage on topics like, how to exercise when you’re trying to conceive, how to eat well throughout pregnancy, how to manage exercise if you’re breastfeeding, and more through Nike.com, the Nike app, and within the Nike Training Club program itself.

Nike is really hoping to meet new and expecting parents where they are by providing them with ways to incorporate fitness into their life. No matter how many minutes parents choose to dedicate to moving their bodies, every minute helps them to build stamina and support for the new journey they are embarking on.
