The Jordan Brand is not only built on legacy, but also intentional about creating pathways for the future greats in the game. Throughout the last few years, they have been consistently building space for women and we continue to applaud that special work. Concepts around diversity and inclusion don’t work if SHE isn’t involved. For the Jumpman, that means footwear and apparel, community development and sports. Jordan Brand has been adding some amazing WNBA players to their roster and these moves are solidifying a powerful message.

With the Jordan Brand family rooted in a legacy of greatness, there is strength in numbers. That strength includes having women who represent the brand through their hard work on and off the court. Jordan recently announced the addition of 8 more WNBA players joining MJ’s family.

The world needs female voices, and we can’t ignore that or else we’re not growing.

Powerful portraits graced the e-streets with a special photoshoot done by Ming Smith. The WNBA players featured were: Jordin Canada (Seattle Storm), Te’a Cooper (LA Sparks), Crystal Dangerfield (Minnesota Lynx), Chelsea Dungee (Dallas Wings), Arella Guirantes (LA Sparks), Dearica Hamby (Las Vegas Aces), Aerial Powers (Minnesota Lynx), Kia Nurse (Phoenix Mercury), and Satou Sabally (Dallas Wings).

While there has been a number of superstar athletes, representation along with the spotlight is important for women in sports. This tells the journey of women who can empower the future generation of leaders regardless if they play sports or not. We have all resonated with aspirations of the people we could see doing amazing things before us. This representation can essentially create a roadmap that has the ability to pave a smoother lane for the next wave of young women.

To have 11 Black women be a part of this brand allows the younger generation and younger women to see that they can be like us — they can have that opportunity. I didn’t see that growing up.
— Jordin Canada, Seattle Storm point guard

Jordan Brand recognizes leaders and how they can positively impact communities across sports, music, and sneaker culture. The WNBA is making her mark by amplifying the voices of the unheard through activism and thinking of ways to development more community.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for the opportunities these amazing women will have, and how we can all play a part in supporting them. If you asked us to guess, we would say new signature WMNS footwear and apparel is on the horizon.
