Sneaker Diary: Munch Time With Happiest Hour and Stan Smith

Happy March! Well, almost. It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating Black History Month and bringing in the romance for Valentine's Day. Now, we're heading into the last month of the first quarter of 2017. How are those goals coming?

For me, it seems like I've either been super on it or barely treading water. Needless to say, I'm juggling more than my fair share of work because happy mediums with a full-time job and a growing business are few and far between. It comes with the territory, though so I'm not complaining.

I really am a simple girl when it comes to weekend errands and brunches. A pair of comfy boyfriend jeans, a white shirt, a baseball cap, and a pair of fresh kicks are a signature staple for me. This time around I jazzed my fit up with some gold accessories to compliment my bling-worthy adidas Stan Smith sneakers. I actually got these about a year or two ago when they arrived as part of a collection presented by adidas and Euro-retailer Sneakersnstuff. Even though I initially planned on reselling them, they stuck with me and have been a go-to shine-on-em shoe ever since. They're definitely a huge conversation starter wherever I go.

While I paid $90, you can grab a similar pair (they are more traditional gold than the rose gold on mine) on sale for $70.

Luckily, I got the chance to get some work done AND get in some lunch time fun at The Happiest Hour. For me, a huge staple of any restaurant is the atmosphere and whether or not it caters to more than one need. I've been a fan of this Dallas watering hole for a few years now primarily because it has a great location, a great view, and because I can go for a weekend evening turn up, a pre-Mavs game drink, or to watch my favorite sporting event on one of the big screens. Basically, it's a fan's dream.

Before heading to HH for our shoot and to grab some lunch with my photographer and new Creative Director, I hadn't really tried anything on the menu. I'd always bought drinks (their drink menu is superb) but had never had the pleasure of dining at Happiest Hour until now.

While the food menu isn't nearly as vast as Happiest Hour's drink selection, you can definitely find something for everyone. My crew and I decided to try a number of different things on the menu to get a feel for the selection.

We started with signature drinks from the menu. While my friend Dozie opted for an Aggies Pick Me Up and a Seasonal Mule, I deviated from my regular order (I usually get the Dallasite) for something a bit more colorful in the form of the Berries From The West made with Western Sons Blueberry Vodka, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and a Pinot Noir topper.

And then, came the eats!

Clockwise:

Fish Tacos with Salsa Verde and Limes

Beef Sliders with Cheddar and Happiest Hour Waffle Fries

Chicken Lettuce Wraps in Butter Lettuce

Grilled Cheese on smothered-in-butter Sourdough served with Smoked Tomato Soup

Center:

Ceviche with avacado and served with Wonton

So good! I had an amazing time at The Happiest Hour and I'm sure I'll be heading back to partake in their #HappiestFan festivities. By the way, if you're in Dallas and you'd like to try Happiest Hour, you can win a $25 Happiest Hour gift card. Just show how you're the #HappiestFan by posting a photo on social media showing your team spirit, tag them, and use the hashtag #HappiestFan for a chance to win!

Last, but not least, we got some amazing shots on the Happiest Hour rooftop that you'll see next week. I’m still sorting through photos to pick the very best ones for the post but they all do the scenery justice. This weekend I'll be recovering from my Houston trip, trying to edit these videos and getting the design ball rolling for some new stuff. I'm definitely interested in getting more interactive with you all personally, so feel free to drop me any questions in the comments below or hit me via email at chanlo@cnkdaily.com.
