A Nike Legend Is The Inspiration Behind This New Cortez

"Stop Pre."

If you've read Phil Knight's 'Shoe Dog' biography or if you're familiar with the story of Steve Prefontaine, then you already know where this is going.

Releasing just a three days after his birthday, Nike pays homage to one of it's most formidible founding athletes with the release of a revamped Cortez in the original white, red, and blue colorway. Complete with a stop sign emblem on both the shoe's heel and an accompanying special edition draw string bag.

This new premium edition of the iconic Cortez takes the vibe all the way back to the ’70s when Nike was just getting started and Pre was in his running hay day with a style graphic on each insole and the text “Tradition Never Stops” on the inside of the tongue.

The “Stop Pre” Cortez will launch January 28th on the Nike SNKRS app, and will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers.
