Late last year when Bella Hadid announced her partnership with Nike, we were all wondering what exactly that would look like. Now, we're finally getting some answers as Nike Women taps Hadid to star in a campaign 45 years in the making.

The Nike Cortez is and will forever be my favorite sneaker ever. Aside from the fact that it's fresh AF, it holds a special place in my kick-loving heart. Originally hitting the market at Nike's infancy in 1972, the Cortez is not only a lasting legacy as one of co-founder Bill Bowerman's original creations, it's also a certified icon in the shoe game.

The Cortez is an iconic shoe that harkens back to my earliest days in the sport. The shoe allowed me the confidence and support to explore my fullest potential as a young aspiring athlete.
— Joan Benoit Samuelson, Gold medalist 1984

Over the years, the Cortez has been a constant companion of runners everywhere (including Olympic champions), held a special place in movie history (Run, Forrest!), and has become a staple of street style.

The first true women’s version of the shoe, the Senorita Cortez, hit market two years later in 1974. If you're a fan of the shoe, you'll notice that Nike's latest campaign pays homage to OG Farrah Fawcett's kick push moment in the Senorita back in the 70's. The aesthetic and performance retained the hallmarks of the original, and throughout the ’70s enjoyed status as Nike’s best-selling shoe.

My style can sway from classic to very eccentric and the things I wear can span many decades of influence. The Cortez is one of the only shoes that can feel simultaneously ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and current.
— Madeline Poole, Nail Artist and Designer

Even now, the Cortez continues to endure. Mixing both with high fashion, casual looks, and everything in between, the trends may change but this iconic shoe will always be in the mix. Get a look at Nike's latest ode to the Cortez as this personal favorite celebrates 45.
